Tennesseans wagered more than $460 million on sports in June 2026, a $100 million increase over June 2025 that state officials largely attribute to the FIFA World Cup, even though Tennessee didn't host a single match.

The surge generated more than $8.4 million in privilege tax revenue for the state in a single month, thanks to Tennessee's unique 1.85% flat tax on the total amount wagered rather than on sportsbook revenue, meaning the state collects regardless of whether bettors win or lose.

That revenue is divided three ways: 80% goes to public K-12 school construction, 15% to local governments for infrastructure, and 5% to the Tennessee Department of Mental Health for gambling disorder treatment and prevention.

With the World Cup continuing through this weekend, officials say wagering totals could remain elevated into July.

The CEO of Tennessee whiskey brand Uncle Nearest and her husband have been fired from the company, according to court filings, after a court-appointed receiver said their actions caused significant confusion among employees, vendors, and distributors.

The receiver was appointed to help the company navigate financial difficulties and liquidate assets to pay creditors, but said Fawn and Keith Weaver repeatedly interfered, including blocking a court-approved sale of a Martha's Vineyard property.

While the receiver describes the company as currently insolvent, court documents say the Uncle Nearest brand still has a future.

A new buyer has signed a contract for a nearly $2.6 million cash sale of one property, with the receiver hoping to close quickly.

Big Oil Just Bet Big on Lithium

Eni, Italy’s largest oil producer, just signed a strategic agreement to invest up to $225M in EnergyX’s lithium project in Chile. The project is expected to generate $1.3B in annual revenue at forecasted market prices.

It’s just one piece of EnergyX’s portfolio holding up to 15M+ tons of untapped lithium, and it’s the latest proof of their progress. Until tonight, you can invest as an early-stage shareholder and share in that growth

EnergyX’s patented tech recovers up to 3X more lithium than traditional methods at 500X the speed. When combined with their resource portfolio, the road to commercial-scale production is clear. Lithium demand is projected to grow 5X by 2040, so the timing couldn’t be better.

General Motors and POSCO are already EnergyX shareholders. Now it’s your turn. Become an early-stage EnergyX shareholder before midnight PT.
