In-N-Out Reveals Next Tennessee Location

In-N-Out Burger has listed a Madison restaurant among the six locations now marked "opening soon" on its website.

The Madison store will be the chain's fifth in Tennessee, following openings in Lebanon, Antioch, Murfreesboro, and Franklin since December. The company is already hiring associates at a starting wage of $17.50 an hour.

The other five "opening soon" sites are in California, Arizona, Utah, and Idaho, and the company has not announced opening dates for any of them.

In-N-Out is also building an Eastern Territory office in Franklin that is expected to open this year, and the company has said it plans dozens of Tennessee restaurants in the coming years.

Viral Dollywood Couple Road-Trips South

A Nordic couple who went viral after posting videos of their first trip to Dollywood is back stateside, road-tripping across the South.

The couple is again sharing videos along the way, this time from stops across the region. "We're spreading joy and love," they said.

They join a string of Dollywood moments that found big audiences online this year, including a young boy's reaction to seeing Dolly Parton for the first time in the park's opening-day parade. Parton later said she wanted to "get off that cart and run down and just squeeze him."

The park is now in its 41st season, headlined by NightFlight Expedition, a $50 million hybrid coaster and whitewater ride that is the most expensive attraction in Dollywood's history.

Pell Grants Now Cover Trade Training

Tennesseans can now use federal Pell Grants to pay for short-term career training in fields like commercial trucking, welding, and cybersecurity.

The Workforce Pell program took effect July 1, expanding aid that previously covered mostly associate and bachelor's degrees and longer certificates. Eligible programs run eight to 15 weeks and prepare students for high-wage, in-demand jobs.

Students must still file the FAFSA and meet income requirements to qualify. "It's one of those things, free money for college," said Julie Roberts, chief academic officer at the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.

At Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology, welding tuition runs roughly $4,000 to $6,212, a cost that a grant could cover in part or in full. Institutions need state and federal approval before students can access the money.
