Ohio voters head to the polls today for a primary election that will set up several major November races, including contests for governor and U.S. Senate.

In the Republican gubernatorial primary, former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy faces automotive engineer Casey Putsch. Heather Hill’s name will appear on the Republican ballot, but she was disqualified after her running mate withdrew. On the Democrat side, Dr. Amy Acton is running unopposed.

In the U.S. Senate special election, incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Jon Husted is unopposed, while former Democrat U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown faces Ron Kincaid.

The state treasurer’s race features a Republican primary fight, with state Sen. Kristina Roegner facing former state Rep. Jay Edwards, who is endorsed by Vice President JD Vance.

Four former Ohio state troopers say they faced a culture of physical and verbal abuse by superiors, including one incident in which a zip tie was placed around a trooper’s neck.

The troopers, all of whom served multiple years, told WKBN they feared retaliation for speaking out about the alleged abuse and other problems in the state patrol.

They said last year's investigation and discipline of three supervisors for misconduct didn’t go far enough. They alleged internal conflicts, a discipline policy open to interpretation, and pressure to meet goals for writing tickets, among other concerns.

An Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesperson said the department complies with policies on professional standards, transparency, and the state trooper association's labor agreement.

Former Ohio State goaltender Jakub Dobes was named the game’s first star in the Montreal Canadiens’ 2-1 Game 7 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday.

Montreal managed only nine shots on goal—the fewest on record in an NHL playoff win— as the team relied heavily on Dobes and its defense.

Dobes stopped 28 of the Lightning’s 29 attempts, helping send the Canadiens to a second-round matchup with the Buffalo Sabres.

Dobes played two seasons at Ohio State before turning pro. He was the 2022 Big Ten Goaltender of the Year as a freshman and a two-time Mike Richter Award semifinalist.
