Georgia Power Bills to Ease Starting Next Month

Starting June 1, typical Georgia Power residential customers will save an average of about $50 annually after the Georgia Public Service Commission approved a rate reduction deal with the utility company, resulting in projected annual statewide savings of approximately $285 million.

The deal lowers bills by an average of roughly $4.03 per month, approximately $2.71 more than initially projected.

The savings come from cuts to fuel and storm cost recovery charges, including a roughly 60% reduction in how much Georgia Power is allowed to collect from customers for storm expenses and spreading those costs out over a longer period of time.

The deal builds on a plan approved last year by state utility regulators to keep Georgia Power’s base electricity rates frozen through at least 2028, though customers could still see separate charges for storm recovery and other costs.

US Soccer Team Begins World Cup Prep at New HQ

The U.S. Men’s National Team has officially begun its preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the new Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center and Headquarters in Fayetteville.

The group started training this week at the center – a state-of-the-art complex featuring 17 outdoor playing surfaces and more than 400,000-square-feet of total facilities.

The $250 million facility, which opened earlier this month, was funded in part by a $50 million donation from Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United owner Arthur M. Blank.

The team will kick off their 2026 FIFA World Cup play in a group stage matchup against Paraguay on June 12 at Los Angeles Stadium.

Chick-fil-A Reveals Summer Menu

Georgia-based Chick-fil-A is rolling out a nostalgia-driven summer menu beginning June 8, reviving several popular seasonal items as part of its “Newstalgia” campaign celebrating the restaurant's 80th anniversary.

The limited-time lineup includes the return of the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich, Pineapple Dragonfruit beverages, as well as the Peach Milkshake and Peach Frosted Lemonade.

The company is also reviving its annual Cow Appreciation Day on July 14. Customers who visit participating locations dressed in cow-themed attire will receive a select entrée for free.
