Whirlpool to Open Another Plant
Whirlpool Corp. plans to open a production facility in Perrysburg, expected to create 100 to 150 jobs over the next two years. The facility will be Whirlpool’s sixth factory in Ohio and its 11th in the U.S. In October 2025, the company announced a $300 million investment in production facilities in Clyde and Marion. In Perrysburg, the Michigan-based company said it will invest more than $60 million to convert a former solar panel manufacturing building into a factory to produce appliance components and handle subassembly work for washers and dryers. |
Vance Leads Historic Iran Talks
Middletown native Vice President JD Vance led the U.S. delegation in peace talks with Iran in Pakistan over the weekend. The negotiations ended without an agreement after 21 hours. The face-to-face meetings between the American and Iranian delegations marked the most direct contact between the two nations since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, surpassing a 2013 phone call between then-President Obama and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani about Iran’s nuclear program. Vance said the Iranians refused to agree not to develop a nuclear weapon. The two sides also discussed Iran’s frozen assets and “many issues beyond that.” |
Runaway Wallaby Hops To It
A wallaby was safely returned after getting loose and hopping around Dayton on Friday. The wallaby, Kipper, traveled as much as 5 miles after getting loose from owner Carolyn Reno, chair of the veterinary technician program at Sinclair Community College in Dayton. His travels eventually took him to the county Jobs and Family Services building, where he was found behind a bush. You can see photos of Kipper here. Kipper was initially misidentified as a kangaroo in local reports. Both are macropods, but wallabies are generally smaller than kangaroos. |

Flying together with our sponsor Forget 2026. This Tech Is Straight From 2226. Picture a capsule the size of a person, buried silently underground. Inside, a rotor spins at 12,000 rotations per minute in a perfect vacuum. No friction, no heat, no noise. Why's it spinning? It's storing energy. Enough to power 30-40 homes a day. To release it, the rotor slows down and sends power back to the grid. And it does this, day after day, for 30 years without losing a single percent of performance. It sounds like science fiction, but it’s not. It’s Qnetic. And they're already generating serious interest. Eight major energy players have committed $110M+ in letters of intent, and with the global energy storage market projected to exceed $3 trillion, demand isn't slowing down. Individual investors can get in before Qnetic scales to 3,500 deployments worldwide by 2030. |
