POW/MIA Memorial Proposed as National Landmark

Last week, U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody filed a Senate companion bill to a House bill introduced in 2025. The legislation proposes designating Jacksonville's POW/MIA Memorial and Museum as a national landmark.

"More than 223,000 American service members have been listed as POW/MIA. We owe it to those service members and their families to ensure that our nation never forgets," U.S Rep. Aaron Bean, a Fernandina Beach Republican, who filed the bill in the U.S. House, said.

Moody and Bean visited the museum on National Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day last Thursday to announce their intention to seek exclusive national recognition for the museum at the federal level.

The museum is being built on 26 acres at the grounds of one of the Navy's most historic master jet bases, Naval Air Station Cecil Field. The memorial is open for tours once a month as the project progresses, and has begun hosting field trips for students.

Palm Beach Prepares for World Cup Fever

Palm Beach County officials anticipate a landmark summer tourist season in 2026, driven by the FIFA World Cup. Seven high-profile matches are scheduled at nearby Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, including a quarterfinal and the third-place final, with the region preparing for 1 million visitors.

Palm Beach County will host headquarters and official training sites for national teams from Portugal and Curacao. The Curacao team, making its World Cup debut, will utilize Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton as its primary training ground.

Miami Steakhouse among World's Best

The 2026 World's 101 Best Steak Restaurants, published by Upper Cut Media House in London, recognized 18 U.S. restaurants, including Daniel's in Miami, which ranked No. 6 in the U.S. and No. 40 in the world.

The boutique media company, which specializes in gastronomy and events, uses nine key criteria for evaluation, including the quality and taste of the meat, selection availability, and a curated wine list.
