| Carson-Newman Students Stranded In Israel Several Carson-Newman University students and faculty are stranded in Israel after U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran over the weekend shut down much of the Middle East's airspace. University officials said the group was on an archaeological dig and has been relocated to Jerusalem, where they remain safe and in good spirits. University President Charles Fowler has spoken with students and their families as the school works to arrange travel home. As of Monday, thousands of flights had been canceled, and major hubs in Israel and across the Gulf were operating under partial closures and reroutes, leaving many travelers stuck abroad. | Pollen Counts Spike Across Midstate Middle Tennessee is seeing its highest pollen levels of the year as trees ramp up for spring, forecasters say. After a brief dip yesterday, thanks to rain showers, counts are expected to climb to moderate and high levels from today through Friday, fueled by warmer days and gusty southerly winds that carry pollen from Gulf Coast states. Experts say that juniper, maple, alder, and elm trees are the main culprits of pollen distribution right now. Relief may be limited until the next round of rain, with tree pollen sticking around for weeks before grass takes over later this year. | Titans Name Vanderbilt as Health Partner The Tennessee Titans announced yesterday a multi-year deal naming Vanderbilt Health as the team’s official healthcare provider, replacing Ascension Saint Thomas. Vanderbilt LifeFlight Event Medicine will handle first aid and emergency services at Nissan Stadium and the team’s MetroCenter headquarters, now renamed the Vanderbilt Health Football Center. The partnership also creates a family zone, called Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt Terrace, inside the stadium. The move comes as the Titans prepare for the new 60,000-seat Nissan Stadium set to open in 2027. | |
