FINAL HOURS! The Flyover Investment Round Closes Tomorrow

A few months ago, we set out on a mission: to offer ownership opportunities to our readers—now more than 4 million strong. You are one of those readers and we are incredibly grateful. Without you, we wouldn't be the company we are today.

But here's the deal: we only have hours left.

If you've been watching from the sidelines, now is the moment to step in and be one of the final investors in The Flyover. Together, we can finish strong.

Invest in The Flyover today

With only hours left, we want to answer one final question we hear most often from readers and potential investors:

How do I get a return on my investment?

We believe in being direct.

Like all investments, this carries risk. But here's what makes The Flyover different: we have already reached profitability after just two years. That puts The Flyover in a very small group of media startups, many of which never reach profitability at all.

There are three primary ways investors may realize a return:

1️⃣ A Sale
A larger media company or strategic partner could acquire The Flyover. If that day comes, we'd only consider partners who respect our values and our readers.

2️⃣ A Public Listing
While we're private today, a future public listing would give investors the ability to buy and sell shares on an open market.

3️⃣ Profit Distributions (Dividends)
Because The Flyover is already profitable, unlike most startups, distributions are a real possibility as the business continues to grow.

To recap:
1. Sale. 2. Listing. 3. Distributions.

Now, the most important part.

This investment round closes tomorrow. Not days. Hours.

Once it closes, it's closed.

If you've been considering investing; if you've been watching from the sidelines, this is your final opportunity to join us as an owner of The Flyover.

Final hours. Final spots. This is it.

The Roundup

Article Icon 1NC Preps for Measurable Snow

North Carolina is bracing for another winter storm this weekend. Forecasters are predicting 3 to 8 inches of snow across most parts of the state amid a winter storm watch that starts this afternoon and runs through Sunday.

Most meteorologists expect a light, fluffy snowfall, though it could be heavy at times. Some forecasts call for 5 to 7 inches in Eastern North Carolina, 3 to 6 inches in Central North Carolina, and 1 to 5 inches in Western North Carolina. Winds could gust 25 to 35 mph, creating blizzard-like conditions in the Outer Banks.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation began treating roads on Thursday, with officials anticipating that roads will be easier to clear with this storm.

Duke Energy said power outages are less likely, since it typically takes 6 or more inches of heavy, wet snow to cause widespread issues.

Article Icon 1Grid Operators Pressured to Lower Costs

Grid operators face mounting bipartisan pressure from the Trump administration and a coalition of governors, including North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein, to lower rising electricity costs fueled by artificial intelligence data center demand.

PJM Interconnection, the nation's largest regional operator serving 13 states—including northeastern North Carolina—has seen wholesale prices spike. Areas near data centers have reported increases of up to 267% since 2020, with costs largely passed on to customers.

The governors signed a Statement of Principles aiming to protect households and small businesses from capacity hikes, allocate new generation costs to data centers that lack self-generation capabilities or operational flexibility, improve forecasting, and restore market fundamentals. Proposals include an emergency power auction and capping prices for existing plants.

The Information Technology Industry Council, which represents tech players like Apple, Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, said it welcomes efforts to lower utility bills for impacted Americans.

Article Icon 1'Ghost Students' Steal Millions via Scams

Scammers dubbed "ghost students" are using stolen identities in a growing nationwide scheme. They enroll fake applicants in colleges to collect federal financial aid and student loans before vanishing.

The fraudsters use stolen personal information, such as Social Security numbers, to gain admission, apply for grants and loans, collect the funds, and then disappear—costing taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars. Community colleges, which accept most applicants through open enrollment, are especially vulnerable.

Federal investigators have more than 200 active cases, with scammers increasingly using artificial intelligence to scale operations. A Fayetteville-based operation led by 59-year-old Cynthia Melvin stole $3.5 million in federal student aid, resulting in a federal prison sentence.
