ESA Restrictions, Storm Cancels Mavs Game, and High-Protein Blue Bell

Attorney General Ken Paxton issued an opinion affirming Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock's authority to exclude schools "illegally tied to terrorists or foreign adversaries" from the state's education savings account program. "Texans' tax dollars should never fund Islamic terrorists or America's enemies," he said.

Most People Miss This

We want to be very straightforward with The Flyover readers.

In the final days of an investment round, almost everyone is paying attention—but very few people are still able to act.

Just days ago, we announced there are 10 days left to invest in The Flyover. Today, that window is even smaller.

With roughly 15% of shares remaining, we are now in the final allocation phase of this round.

This is the part most people miss.

Not because they don't believe in the company.
Not because they don't support the mission.
But because they assume there will be more time.

There won't be.

Once the remaining shares are allocated, this round closes—regardless of the calendar.
No extensions.
No reopening.
No second chance.

What makes this moment different isn't persuasion—it's availability.

The Flyover is already what most media startups never become:

  • Profitable
  • Growing rapidly
  • Trusted by millions of readers and viewers
  • Built without corporate sponsorship or political donors

That part isn't theoretical. It's already true.

What is still optional—for a very short time—is whether you are an owner as the next phase of growth happens.

We are actively expanding:

  • Into more states
  • Into deeper audio and video
  • Into products like texting and The Flyover app
  • Into a larger, more durable media company built for the long term

Those plans are being funded right now.

The only remaining question is who is still able to participate before this round closes.

If you've been waiting for a clearer signal—this is it.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Invest in The Flyover

With roughly 15% of shares remaining, this is the final allocation window.

Once they're gone, there are no more shares in this offering.

The Roundup

Article Icon 1Ice Knocks Out Power, Cancels School

Downed power lines caused outages affecting over 80,000 customers yesterday. A dozen or so counties in Deep East Texas were hit especially hard, with close to 50% of customers without power in a handful of counties along the Louisiana border, according to the PowerOutage website.

Thousands of flights have been canceled, DoorDash suspended operations in the Panhandle and North Texas, and a 20-car pileup in Junction shut down several miles of I-10 and killed one person. At least one cold-related death has been reported.

School districts across the state have canceled classes today due to icy road conditions. Residents submitted photos and videos to news stations in the Panhandle and South Plains, El Paso, the Big Country, DFW, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and East Texas.

Article Icon 1Paxton Okays Barring Schools from Education Program

Attorney General Ken Paxton issued an opinion affirming Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock's authority to exclude schools "illegally tied to terrorists or foreign adversaries" from the state's education savings account program. "Texans' tax dollars should never fund Islamic terrorists or America's enemies," he said.

Last month, Hancock asked Paxton if his office could bar a school that had hosted an event with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which Gov. Greg Abbott has designated a foreign terrorist organization.

Hancock's Dec. 12 letter also mentioned a school that appears to be affiliated with a holding group linked to the Chinese Communist Party.

CAIR previously shared that it had hosted a "Know Your Rights" session for students at the unnamed school. On Thursday, the group sent a letter to Hancock stating that excluding schools that had hosted CAIR events would constitute religious discrimination.

Article Icon 1Lake Effect Snow, Steam Fog, and Thundersleet

As the winter storm blanketed much of the state with ice, it also produced some locally rare weather phenomena, including lake effect snow.

Arlington residents got flurries from snow produced by moisture from Lake Arlington and south winds up to 30 miles per hour. A local reporter shot a video of the rare event.

In Austin, steam fog, or sea smoke, was seen on Lake Travis as the cool, dry Arctic air moved in. The phenomenon usually requires a temperature difference of at least 15 degrees between a body of water and the air mass above it.

And in College Station, residents experienced thundersleet, or sleet produced by precipitation from a thunderstorm. "This is such a rare occurrence!" read a social media post from National Weather Service Houston.
