Tennessee to Restrict Junk Food in SNAP

Starting in 2026, Tennessee will ban the use of SNAP benefits to purchase certain processed and sugary foods, following federal approval of a new waiver.

The change is part of the Make America Healthy Again initiative, with similar measures rolling out sooner in five other states.

The waiver also allows for the purchase of hot foods like rotisserie chicken, previously barred under federal rules.

Over 700,000 Tennesseans rely on SNAP, and officials say the goal is to improve health outcomes and expand access to more nutritious options.

T.RAD Bringing 900+ Jobs to Clarksville

Japanese auto parts maker T.RAD will invest over $90 million to build a new manufacturing facility in Clarksville, creating 928 jobs.

The company, a subsidiary of T.RAD Japan and currently based in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, is expanding into Tennessee for the first time.

State officials say the move will boost advanced manufacturing and support economic growth across the Southeast.

Construction details and opening dates haven’t been released, but hiring is expected to begin in phases.

Jelly Roll Invited to Join Grand Ole Opry

Nashville-born artist Jelly Roll has been invited to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry, marking a major milestone in his country music career.
