Article Icon 1Power Deal Sparks Strong Reactions

The tentative deal announced Monday between Georgia Power and state regulators on a $16 billion energy expansion drew strong reactions from supporters and opponents.

Supporters said the deal—set for a Dec. 19 vote by the state Public Service Commission—will allow the state to meet future energy needs while benefiting residential ratepayers by shifting more costs onto data centers and other large energy users.

"This is a needed decision to serve the growth that Georgia is seeing, not just from data centers but from large-load customers (and) residents," Georgia Power spokesman Matthew Kent said.

The agreement triggered protests among the utility's critics at a Wednesday hearing in Atlanta, who said the deal caught them by surprise and fell short of the utility's claims. Police were called in to escort some protestors out of the meeting.

“In actuality, these larger users are causing the new investments that will increase rates for families and businesses,” clean energy advocate Stephen A. Smith said.

A federal judge refused to halt next week's execution of Stacey Humphreys, who was convicted of killing two Cobb County real estate agents in 2003.

State prison officials released Humphreys' last meal request, which includes barbecue beef, a bacon double cheeseburger, vanilla ice cream, and lemon-lime soda.

Georgia's parole board will hear a clemency request from Humphreys on Tuesday, the day before his scheduled execution on Wednesday at the state prison in Jackson.

U.S. District Court Judge Leigh Martin May ruled that defense attorneys failed to show the execution would violate Humphreys' due process and equal protection rights.

A man was arrested in Mount Vernon, New York, in connection with the October theft of Shaquille O'Neal's $180,000 custom Range Rover, taken from a fabrication shop in the Dahlonega area.

Authorities said Anthony Del Rosario, 33, helped orchestrate a vehicle transport scheme that used hacked credentials and fake paperwork to reroute the vehicle as part of a larger vehicle theft ring.

Rosario will be transferred to Georgia to face charges.

The SUV, fitted for the basketball legend's 7-foot-1 frame, is still missing and believed to be overseas.

The $4 Billion Deal Everyday Investors Missed

In 2012, Disney acquired Lucasfilm for $4 billion—one of the most profitable entertainment deals ever made.

But everyday investors never had the chance to participate. The upside was locked away behind private doors.

This dynamic is finally changing. A new company has quietly assembled what normally takes media giants billions to acquire.

After a decade-long legal effort at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, Elf Labs secured more than 500 trademarks and copyrights featuring iconic characters like Cinderella, Snow White, The Little Mermaid, and many others.

It's one of the most significant character-IP victories in recent memory — and they are already rapidly scaling.

  • $15M+ in royalties

  • Upcoming global rollout to 200M TVs

  • 12 patents being used to power 3D & immersive content

  • Unsolicited $70M+ offers before any nationwide rollout

  • A team with a $6B+ licensing track record

The shift resembles the Lucasfilm moment—except this time, the opportunity is still open to everyday investors.

Elf is building a tech-powered character universe designed to disrupt the $2 trillion entertainment and merchandise market. With enterprise backing and distribution underway, they're entering a major growth phase.
