Judge Orders Transcript Release in Kirk Case

A Utah judge ordered the release of a transcript and audio recording from a closed-door hearing in October involving suspected Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson.

The hearing, which addressed whether Robinson should appear in court in civilian clothes and unshackled, was closed after defense attorneys raised concerns about potential jury bias.

The judge, who ruled Robinson can appear in civilian clothes while remaining shackled, ordered the release of redacted versions of the transcript and audio.

On Monday, Robinson, 22, appeared virtually for a court hearing. He is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 16. He is charged with aggravated murder and faces the death penalty.

Teams Prepped for Bowl Games

Arizona State plays Duke today in the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, while No. 17 Arizona will face Southern Methodist University on Friday in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego, California.

The games cap a successful year for the two teams, including off the field, as ASU recently signed coach Kenny Dillingham to a contract extension after he was courted by Michigan.

In ASU's bowl game, Duke enters as the favorite. The Sun Devils are expected to be without 19 players due to injuries and transfers, including star quarterback Sam Leavitt.

Arizona is a slight favorite against SMU. The Wildcats seek to win a sixth straight game, building on the team's 9-3 record.
