If you only get a couple I recommend Gates of Fire or Genghis Khan and The Making of The Modern World. Let me know if you end up picking one of these up, and leave a comment with what you are reading now! Books I Read ๐ - Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield, published in 1999, is a historical fiction about the battle of Thermopylae. I read it maybe 5 or 6 years ago, and decided to revisit it in March. Wow. I forgot how good this book is. It hits different now as a father & husband.
- The Anthology of Balaji: A Guide to Technology, Truth, and Building the Future by Eric Jorgenson was something I had to pick up. I loved Eric's book on Naval. If Eric's book on Naval gives you hope for your personal self, this book gives you hope (and ideas) for building a better society. Pairs well with "The Rational Optimist".
- Writing That Works; How to Communicate Effectively In Business is a handy book to keep on your desk. You will get more done with your communication if you follow the principles in this book. I adopted them, specifically for people leaders, into this course.
- Million Dollar Weekend by Noah Kagan is a fantastic read for any aspiring business owners. The chapter on validating your idea before building your business would have saved me a lot of time over the years had I come across this sooner.
Audiobooks ๐๐ป - Jesus: A Biography, from a Believer was a fun read around the holidays. Founder's Podcast did an episode on it for Christmas. Paul Johnson's biographies are short & wonderful.
- Same as Ever: A Guide to What Never Changes by Morgan Housel is the follow-up to Psychology of Money. Both are good, but I prefer his first book.
- Anti-Fragile & Skin In The Game by Nassim Taleb are the two audiobooks from this list that I will get in text form as well so I can read and digest them better.
- No Drama Discipline & Good Inside were two great parenting books. My son is a little too young to know if either of these work, but they both seem to have sound ideas. The former gave me a good framework for thinking about discipline and the latter gave practical advice on how to establish and hold boundaries.
- Genghis Khan and The Making of The Modern World is the book I thought the most about after listening to it. One of the most engaging biographies / histories I read in a long time.
- The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis was for fun ๐
