The world's governing body of motor racing is being urged to ban Russian associates.

It comes after Russia began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine last Thursday with sport around the world responding to the ongoing conflict.

Formula One is now under the spotlight after the Ukrainian Automotive Federation (UAF) officially requested to the FIA on Monday that Russian license holders in the sport be banned.

This list would include one of Haas' current Formula One drivers, Nikita Mazepin.

The Moscow-born driver only finished Formula One's pre-seasonal testing last week in Barcelona.

However, Mazepin's future with Haas as well as F1 is already in doubt after the team officially dropped Russian sponsor Uralkali meaning it will no longer be on its car strip.

Following the invasion, Mazepin tweeted "it's a difficult time and I am not in control over a lot of what is being said and done.

"I'm choosing to focus on what I CAN control by working hard and doing my best for my @HaasF1Team.

"My deepest thanks for your understanding and support."

The letter by UAF president Leonid Kostyuchenko was in response to the FIA's president Mohammed Ben Sulayem public offering of "full support and support of the FIA".

Kostyuchenko also asked for bans on Russian and Belarussian (its close ally) drivers from competing in races outside of their respective countries as well as banning any events held in the two countries and requested for the expulsion of Russian and Belarussian members from the FIA.

The FIA is yet to impose any of these sanctions.
