There are only three games scheduled for Monday, November 1st with many teams preparing for big road trips or home stands alike in the upcoming days. Despite the limited number of games, there are still plenty of exciting matchups on the ice, with star players like Alexander Ovechkin, Brayden Point, and Connor McDavid playing in the respective game. With the intriguing games comes matchups there are a handful of wagers that are worth making considering the teams and the rosters respectively.
Over 6 Washington Capitals Vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
Capitals stat line
3.75 goals per game
2.38 goals against per game
Lightning stat line
3.25 goals per game
3.38 goals against per game
The last times these two met they combined for 3 goals with the Lightning winning 2-1 in overtime but there are plenty of reasons to believe that the upcoming game will be a high-scoring one. For starters, the Capitals offense is one of the best in the NHL with four potent forward lines and excellent puck movement in the offensive zone, especially on the power play. In the upcoming matchup, the Capitals look to find open shots at the faceoff circles from Alexander Ovechkin and Tom Wilson against a Lightning defense that likes to control the center of the ice and is susceptible to shots from the outside part of the offensive zone. In addition, the Capitals will test Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy throughout the game and with low shots, will find second chances near the goals and ultimately, the back of the net.
On the other end of the ice, the Lightning look to find the back of the net multiple times as well with their revamped forward unit. The Lightning lost Nikita Kucherov early on in the season but since losing the top scorer, have found offensive production from Alex Killorn and Brayden Point in space, resulting in the team scoring 10 goals in the last two games combined. The Lightning will look to find scoring opportunities on the odd-man rush against slower Capitals defensemen with great transitions off of turnovers. Likewise, the Lightning will look to find the back of the net with great play in the offensive zone with Steven Stamkos finding open shots near the net while Victor Hedman and Mikhail Sergachev, two of the best scoring defensemen this season, fire shots from the point.
The Over will cover with both offenses finding the back of the net throughout the game.
Ottawa Senators (+105) Vs. Chicago Blackhawks
Senators stat line
2.71 goals per game
2.86 goals against per game
Blackhawks stat line
1.89 goals per game
4.11 goals against per game
The Blackhawks are winless on the season and look to play their best game of the season in front of their home crowd. The problem is that the Blackhawks have been a mess this season in every way imaginable and the Senators are a young and promising team that can easily dominate both ends of the ice as a result.
The Senators look to pile on the goals with Joshua Norris and Drake Batherson creating scoring opportunities in space while the Senators forwards carry the puck into the offensive zone at will against a struggling Blackhawks defense. The Senators will also look to Tim Stutzle and Brady Tkachuk, two of their best young forwards, to find the back of the net with accurate shots against Blackhawks goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, who has played poorly to start the season.
On the other end of the ice, the Senators look to eliminate the Blackhawks hapless offense with Artem Zub and Thomas Chabot controlling the blue line to limit offensive zone time for the Blackhawks. Zub, Chabot, Nikita Zaitsev, and the rest of the Senators' defensive unit will also create turnovers in the defensive zone and forces tough shots on the net which will allow goaltender Filip Gustavsson to have a great performance in the game.
The Senators will win the game and provide great odds as a road Underdog.
Seattle Kraken (+180) Vs. Edmonton Oilers
Kraken stat line
2.75 goals per game
3.13 goals against per game
Oilers stat line
4.00 goals per game
2.71 goals against per game
The Oilers have played great to start the season, winning six of their first seven games. It's easy to think the Oilers will win the upcoming game as they outmatch the Kraken across the ice and are heavy favorites as a result. The Kraken however, have the players in place to not only limit how the Oilers love to play but to pull off the upset as home Underdogs.
The Kraken have struggled offensively but can find shots on the goals from the wing with Jordan Eberle and Brandon Tanev creating scoring opportunities and overwhelming any goaltender in the NHL. The Kraken look to find shots on the net and crash the goal from the wings with Taven and Eberle while Jared McCann finds goals from the center of the offensive zone, especially against Oilers goaltender Mikko Koskinen who has been inconsistent this season.
The Kraken meanwhile have the ideal matchup for the Oilers offense that looks unstoppable this season in their defensive pairings. The Oilers love to score on the odd-man rush with McDavid and Draisaitl burning defenses with speed but the Kraken have bigger defensemen in Jamie Oleksiak and Adam Larsson that can eliminate McDavid and Draisaitl at the blue line and hinder the rush and offensive zone time. Likewise, the Kraken defensemen look to disrupt shooting lanes with Oleksiak, Larsson, and Mark Giordano all experienced shot blockers, allowing goaltender Philipp Grubauer to have a great game in the net.
The Kraken will win the game and provide great odds as home Underdogs.
