Georgia has broken tourism records for the fourth year in a row, Gov. Brian Kemp announced Wednesday.

The state drew a record 175.6 million visitors in 2025, and they spent $46.2 billion on the state's lodging, transportation, restaurants, and other local businesses. The totals topped 2024’s record of 174.2 million visitors and $45.2 billion.

That spending in 2025 generated $5.3 billion in state and local tax revenue, which the governor's office says brings the average annual tax savings per Georgia household close to $1,300. Tourism now supports nearly 474,000 jobs statewide.

Kemp released the figures at the Georgia Governor's Tourism Conference, where hundreds of industry leaders met on Jekyll Island.

Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) crews found 1,310 yellow-legged hornets and 33 nests across the state in September.

In August, agriculture officials recorded 1,090 invasive yellow-legged hornets and 60 nests across Georgia. Crews have destroyed 119 nests in 2026 and now monitor 8,228 traps.

The first live yellow-legged hornet in the United States was discovered in Georgia in August 2023. The hornets hunt honeybees and other pollinators, posing a threat to the state’s agriculture.

University of Georgia researchers have found that coastal winds are helping push the hornets north and that they prey on more types of native insects than previously known.

Residents who spot a nest or see hornets hovering outside a beehive are asked to contact the GDA.

Article Icon 1Braves Open NLDS Against Dodgers

The Atlanta Braves begin their National League Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers at 4 p.m. today, opening a best-of-five matchup at Dodger Stadium.

Atlanta enters the series after a 94-68 regular season and a Wild Card series win against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Braves will face a Dodgers team that had a bye during the Wild Card round and finished the regular season with 100 wins. Los Angeles is seeking a third consecutive championship.

The Braves went 5-1 against Los Angeles during the regular season, including a three-game sweep at Truist Park in August. The series moves to Atlanta for Game 3 and, if necessary, Game 4.
