Trump Sets Plan to Hike Generic Drug Tariffs

President Trump announced phased tariffs on imported generic drugs on Tuesday, giving manufacturers a two-year runway to move production stateside before the hammer drops.

Under the plan, generics stay tariff-free starting Aug. 1 for two years. Then the rate jumps to 100% for one year, and 200% after that.

Generics fill more than 90% of American prescriptions, and most rely on imported ingredients.

The generic drug industry's top trade group said it wants more details but supports strengthening domestic manufacturing. Trump said the goal is simple: "to protect the people of the United States."

US, Saudis Strike Nuclear Deal

President Trump approved a landmark nuclear agreement with Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, clearing the way for American companies to build the oil kingdom's first nuclear power program.

The deal creates a legal pathway for uranium enrichment on Saudi soil, reportedly without the "gold standard" safeguards Washington has traditionally demanded. That's the same enrichment question at the heart of the ongoing war against Iran.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has warned that if Tehran ever gets the bomb, Riyadh will want one too.

Congress must review the pact, but it needs a veto-proof majority to stop it. Secretary of State Marco Rubio insists the U.S. won't sign anything that risks proliferation.

List: The Cost of Owning a Car in Every State

A new state-by-state comparison of annual car ownership costs in 2025 shows that drivers in Nevada pay the most at $6,119 per year, while New Hampshire drivers pay the least at $3,030.

The study factors in insurance, fuel, repairs, and sales taxes but excludes car payments. Insurance alone accounts for more than half of total ownership costs in 13 states.

Seven of the 15 priciest states are in the South, with Florida ($5,682) and Louisiana ($5,663) close behind Nevada.
