La Vergne Adopts Roadside Drug Testing
The La Vergne Police Department has become the latest Middle Tennessee agency to deploy roadside saliva drug testing at DUI stops, after city leaders voted to purchase screening devices. The SoToxa Mobile Test System, made by Abbott, analyzes a saliva strip in a handheld reader, screening for substances like THC and opioids within minutes of a stop. La Vergne police said the device detects substances ingested within the last six to eight hours. More than two dozen Tennessee law enforcement agencies have now adopted the technology statewide, with La Vergne joining recent adopters like the Clarksville Police Department. Officers will deploy the device only after establishing probable cause or making an arrest, not during routine traffic stops. |
Flash Flood Watch Soaks Middle Tennessee
After a soggy start to the week that prompted flood watches across East and Middle Tennessee, forecasters say rain chances will continue today. Today's forecast calls for scattered thunderstorms and highs near 88 degrees, while unsettled weather is expected to linger across portions of Tennessee following yesterday's heavy rainfall. Yesterday, meteorologists warned that repeated rounds of heavy rain, with rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour, could produce flash flooding. Officials urged drivers to avoid flooded roadways and use caution during periods of heavy rain. Flood watches were issued Monday for numerous counties across the state as saturated ground, swollen creeks, and repeated downpours increased the risk of flooding. |
Haack Relists $4.5M Tennessee Farmhouse
HGTV star Christina Haack is preparing to relist her $4.5 million Leiper’s Fork farmhouse after her drawn-out divorce has finally been resolved. Haack's modern farmhouse offers six bedrooms, six bathrooms, a resort-style pool and hot tub, a barn, and private walking trails. The home blends upscale design with Tennessee country living, featuring exposed wood beams and sweeping landscape views. See photos here. The 5,200-square-foot farmhouse sits on nearly 24 acres in Williamson County, south of Nashville, and was featured on Haack’s HGTV series Christina in the Country. She originally paid $2.5 million for the property in 2021. Haack first listed the estate in October 2024, but twice removed it as her ex-husband sought court intervention to block the sale while he occupied the property. |
