Storms, Extreme Heat Forecast into Holiday Week

Forecasters across Tennessee are warning of strong to severe storms today, followed by a stretch of dangerous heat expected to build through early next week and into the Fourth of July weekend.

In Middle Tennessee, isolated storms are in the forecast, with wind and heavy-rain threats.

In East Tennessee, meteorologists expect storms to develop today, bringing heavy rain and possible flooding, especially in southern Kentucky counties, before tapering into scattered storms on Sunday.

Heat then dominates the outlook, with highs reaching the upper 90s and "feels like" temperatures of 105–110 degrees, prompting possible heat advisories. Residents are urged to stay hydrated.

Owner of Grand Ole Opry and Ryman Explores Sale

Ryman Hospitality Properties is exploring a sale of its majority stake in Opry Entertainment Group, owner of Nashville's Grand Ole Opry and Ryman Auditorium, potentially changing ownership of the iconic country music venues.

The company holds a 70% stake in the group, with NBCUniversal and private equity firm Atairos owning the rest. It has engaged Morgan Stanley to assist with a possible transaction.

Ryman attributed the move to country music's growing global popularity, which it said has drawn outside interest in the genre's venues. Executives framed the step as best for long-term growth.

No agreements are in place, and the company says a sale is not guaranteed. Some fans expressed concern about losing local ownership and uncertainty over the venues' future operations.
