Ohio Fraud Crackdown Nets 14 Indicted

Federal and Ohio officials launched a sweeping anti-fraud operation Thursday, unsealing 14 indictments tied to schemes totaling more than $50 million.

Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel joined Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost at the Defense Supply Center Columbus to announce the new federal-state partnership.

The cases target Medicaid billing abuse, COVID-19 relief fraud, and romance scams. Prosecutors also unveiled a new FBI Most Wanted Fraudsters List as part of the initiative.

Hours after the announcement, the Ohio Department of Medicaid suspended payments to 49 home health care providers in central Ohio whose billing patterns raised red flags for potential waste and abuse, acting under Gov. DeWine’s executive order.

Brown Leads Husted by 8

A Fox News poll released Thursday gives former Sen. Sherrod Brown (D) a commanding 8-point lead over incumbent Sen. Jon Husted (R) in Ohio’s 2026 Senate race.

The survey of 1,015 registered Ohio voters found Brown ahead 53% to 45%, a margin outside the poll’s sampling error.

Trump’s net favorability in Ohio has plummeted 20 points since his November 2024 win, fueling Brown’s crossover appeal with Republican voters.

The stakes extend beyond Ohio’s borders as the winner of the Husted-Brown race could determine which party controls the U.S. Senate next January.

World Cup Comes to Ohio Today

Ohio gets an early taste of the FIFA World Cup tonight as Brazil faces Egypt at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, marking the city's first major international soccer match in more than a decade.

The match is part of the "Road to 26" pre-tournament series, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. Brazil arrives without forward Neymar, who is sidelined with a calf strain and staying in New Jersey for treatment.

Columbus hosts its own pre-tournament match on Sunday, when Ecuador and Guatemala face off at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field at 4 p.m. Ecuador is training at the OhioHealth Performance Center as it prepares for the tournament.
