Good Morning! On this day in 1977, the first Star Wars film opened in just 32 American theaters on the Wednesday before Memorial Day weekend. The space opera went on to win six Academy Awards plus a Special Achievement Award and gross nearly $800 million worldwide, launching one of the most successful franchises in cinema history.

Today, we pause to honor the Americans who gave their lives in service to our country. We remember their sacrifice with gratitude and reverence.

Iran Peace Deal Takes Shape

The U.S.-Iran agreement Trump says is "largely negotiated" includes a 60-day ceasefire extension, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz without tolls, and U.S. sanctions waivers allowing Iran to sell oil freely. American forces would remain in the region during the 60-day window.

Trump administration officials say Iran has agreed to dispose of its highly enriched uranium stockpile, but a senior Iranian source said that no such agreement exists and that nuclear issues are not part of the current deal.

On Sunday, Trump wrote on Truth Social that he had instructed his team not to rush the deal, adding that "time is on our side."

A senior Trump official told the press the deal was not expected to be signed Sunday and would take several days to move through approvals.

Russia Hits Kyiv with Massive Missile Barrage

Russia launched one of the war's largest aerial assaults on Ukraine overnight Sunday, firing 90 missiles and 600 drones in a strike that killed at least four people and injured 83. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv was the primary target.

Among the weapons used was the Oreshnik, a nuclear-capable hypersonic ballistic missile that reportedly flies at more than 10 times the speed of sound. Sunday's launch marked only the third combat use of the system in the war.

Residential buildings, a school, a water supply facility, and the Chernobyl Museum in Kyiv were among the damaged sites. Ukraine's interior minister called the museum strike "a deliberate attack on history, memory, and truth."

Russia said the assault was retaliation for a Ukrainian drone attack on a student dormitory in Russian-occupied Starobilsk, which Kyiv denies. European leaders condemned the strike, and Poland scrambled fighter jets in response.

Memorial Day Cookouts Cost More This Year

Americans firing up the grill this Memorial Day are paying noticeably more for backyard staples, with ground beef prices up 14.5% and steak up 16.1% year over year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' April inflation report.

The beef squeeze traces to a U.S. cattle herd at its lowest level in 75 years, as ranchers cut inventory amid drought, high feed costs, and rising overhead.

Hot dogs aren't a free pass either, with frankfurter prices up 10.7% from last year, and even cakes and cookies climbing 5.1%.

The one bright spot for budget-conscious hosts: chicken is the only protein category that got cheaper, down 0.7% over the last year, while potatoes are about 3% less expensive.
