FTC Warns On Hospital Monopoly Plan

Federal Trade Commission officials are warning Tennessee lawmakers that ending Ballad Health’s hospital monopoly without immediate competition could drive up patient costs.

The proposal would lift Ballad’s monopoly protections in 2028 but keep barriers to new competitors in place until 2030, creating what regulators call a harmful gap.

FTC officials say Ballad would have strong incentives to block new entrants during that window, undermining competition goals.

The monopoly, created in 2018, has already faced scrutiny for failing to meet key quality benchmarks.

TVA CEO To Step Down After Proposed Pay Cut

Tennessee Valley Authority CEO Don Moul plans to retire July 1, just over a year after taking the top job, officials confirmed.

The move comes weeks after President Trump pushed for a $500,000 pay cap on TVA employees, while Moul's total compensation package could reach approximately $4.7 million, including a $1.2 million base salary, a $2.45 million performance bonus, and a $1.05 million retention bonus.

Board members credited Moul with strong financial and operational performance, including plans to expand nuclear power through small modular reactors.

His departure adds fresh uncertainty for the federally owned utility, which serves seven states.

Titans Unveil Sold-Out Club Space

The Tennessee Titans have revealed a new field-level premium club at their upcoming Nissan Stadium, already sold out ahead of the venue’s planned 2027 opening.

The Nissan 1960 Club, located along the home sideline, will host about 550 fans with all-inclusive food, private entry, and close-up access to players.

Team officials say the space is designed to highlight the franchise’s history and its partnership with Nissan, which has U.S. headquarters in the Nashville area.

The announcement underscores strong early demand for elite experiences in the new stadium.
