Missing F-15E Crew Member Rescued in Iran

U.S. forces rescued the second crew member from an F-15E shot down over Iran, pulling the seriously wounded colonel from a mountain crevice after 36 hours behind enemy lines.

The CIA ran a deception campaign inside Iran, spreading false reports that the airman had already been found while intelligence teams pinpointed his actual location.

Artemis II Crew Reaches Moon Today

The Artemis II astronauts are set to fly around the far side of the moon today, becoming the first humans to travel beyond Earth orbit in more than 50 years.

The four crew members will break the Apollo 13 distance record at around 1:56 p.m. ET, reaching 252,757 miles from Earth, roughly 4,100 miles farther than any human has traveled.

At closest approach, they'll pass within 4,066 miles of the lunar surface and photograph parts of the far side never seen by human eyes. A solar eclipse viewed from the capsule will cap the flyby. Watch a video here.

Commander Reid Wiseman called the mission a "magnificent accomplishment." Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen said the view leaves the photos in the dust: "It is another level of amazing up here."

Applebee's Manager Shelters 50 from Tornado

An Applebee's manager in Three Rivers, Michigan, led 50 customers and staff to safety in the restaurant's kitchen when an EF-2 tornado struck the area last month.

Aubrey McKenzie, who has been afraid of storms since childhood, got everyone into the kitchen in about 90 seconds as 130 mph winds shattered windows and sent debris flying from a nearby store.

No one sheltered in the kitchen was injured. The tornado tore an 11-mile path through the area, injuring 10 people and severely damaging a Menards two doors down.

McKenzie said she was surprised she kept it together. "Your ears were popping. It was loud. By the sound of it, you'd think these walls weren't going to hold," she recalled.
