Article Icon 1Denver Bars ICE from Using City Property

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston on Thursday signed an executive order intended to restrict the activities of federal immigration officers in the event of a mass enforcement operation.

Executive Order 152 bans agencies like ICE from city-owned or city-controlled property without a judicial warrant or court order. It also requires police to de-escalate clashes between federal officers and protesters and to intervene if agents use "excessive force."

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) called the order "legally illiterate," citing the Supremacy Clause, which dictates that federal law takes precedence. "No local official has the authority to bar ICE from carrying out federal law on public property," DHS said.

City officials insist the order is constitutional. Johnston said it will dovetail with an advancing City Council measure that would prohibit immigration agents from wearing masks and require them to identify themselves.

Article Icon 1Boebert Photo Disrupts Clinton Deposition

The closed-door deposition of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton before the House Oversight Committee was paused after Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., sent a photo of Clinton in the room to a social media influencer, violating committee rules for closed-door depositions.

On Thursday, conservative commentator Benny Johnson posted the photo to X, saying it was provided by Boebert and calling it "the first image of Hillary Clinton testifying under oath." The deposition was briefly paused after objections to the leak. It later resumed and ended that day.

Boebert defended sharing the photo, saying Democrats on the committee had already been sharing information with reporters.

Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, were both called to testify before the committee as part of a congressional investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Both denied any wrongdoing.

Hundreds of hikers were evacuated from Chautauqua Park and the surrounding Boulder County Open Space on Saturday when a 1.5-acre wildfire ignited. Crews fully contained it within about five hours, and no injuries were reported.

A large, fast-moving brush fire triggered residential evacuations in the Parker area Friday morning but was quickly brought under control.

Days earlier, a 10-acre fire scorched nearly 150 cars at a Thornton restoration shop, causing an estimated $2 million in damage. More than 100 firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.

Today, conditions will stay mostly dry on the Front Range and Eastern Plains. Warm, breezy weather may raise near-critical fire concerns south of Interstate 70.
