Article Icon 1Two Violent Inmates Escape Jail

Two inmates, including one facing a murder charge, escaped from the Sumter County jail in Americus around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities identified the inmates as Rickey Martin, 20, who was in jail in connection with the shooting death of a 5-year-old in February 2025, and Kentravious Holmes, 21. A search for the pair was ongoing late Monday.

Albany Police Chief Michael Persley said a stolen gold Kia allegedly used by the suspects was detected on FLOCK cameras in Dougherty County early Monday morning.

The escape follows a December jailbreak in DeKalb County, when three inmates—one labeled extremely dangerous—were caught in Florida after allegedly stealing a rideshare vehicle and holding the driver against her will.

Jury selection began Monday in Hall County in the trial of Colin Gray, the father of the teen suspect in the 2024 Apalachee High School shooting.

In a case about parental liability in school violence, jury selection is taking place in Hall County due to concerns about pretrial publicity in nearby Barrow County, where the school is located. The trial will take place at the Barrow County courthouse.

Gray has pleaded not guilty to 29 felony counts, including second-degree murder, for allegedly purchasing an AR-style rifle as a Christmas gift for his son Colt in 2023. Prosecutors allege Gray knew his son could be a danger to others.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald lifted his first Super Bowl trophy Sunday, capping a journey that began on high school football fields in metro Atlanta.

Macdonald attended Centennial High School in Roswell, playing linebacker and fullback on the football team. Longtime coach Mike Cloy recalled Macdonald's intelligence and work ethic despite weighing just 150 pounds.

After high school, Macdonald attended the University of Georgia as a finance major, working as an assistant football coach at Cedar Shoals High School in Athens before becoming a graduate assistant under then Bulldogs coach Mark Richt.

Richt praised Macdonald's dedication to excellence and his enthusiasm for every assignment, saying, "If you gave him an assignment, it was going to get done. It was going to get done well."

Before this year's Super Bowl, NBC aired an interview between Macdonald and NBC Sports' Maria Taylor, who is also a Centennial High School and University of Georgia alum.

Scammers don't guess—they look you up

Most scams don't start with malware—they start with public data. Addresses, phone numbers, and relatives are often obtained from data brokers and people search sites. That's why scam calls can sound calm, specific, and legitimate.

Incogni helps reduce this exposure by removing personal data from these sources and monitoring for re-listing. When less of your information is easy to find, impersonation gets much harder.
