Disaster Aid Extended to 23 Counties

President Trump approved Tennessee’s request for a Major Disaster Declaration after Winter Storm Fern, unlocking FEMA public assistance for 23 counties, state officials said.

Fifteen counties qualify for full reimbursement for response and infrastructure repairs, while eight counties are approved only for Category B emergency protective measures.

The aid covers government agencies and some nonprofits, including churches, but individual assistance for residents is still under federal review.

The late January storm killed at least 29 people statewide and caused widespread damage across Middle and West Tennessee.

Forecasters say sunshine and warmer weather is set to return to Tennessee, with highs climbing into the upper 60s and near 70 by tomorrow.

Parks, including Paris Landing, Fall Creek Falls, Montgomery Bell, and Pickwick Landing, are offering overnight packages with special meals, wine, and themed events like murder mystery dinners and Galentine's nights.

Other parks will host Valentine's buffets, birding hikes, yoga sessions, and nature-focused programs.

State officials say the events are designed to offer affordable, close-to-home options for couples and friends looking to celebrate this February outdoors.
