Article Icon 1First Bills of Session Tackle Affordability

State lawmakers introduced 94 bills on Jan. 14, the first day of the 2026 legislative session, ranging from consumer protections to energy regulation. Here's an overview of the bills.

Affordability is a top priority, including proposals to ban surveillance pricing and certain debt collection practices. HB26-1012 would set a cap on prices for captive consumers—shoppers at airports, outdoor festivals, and other places with limited competition.

One of several energy bills would require large utilities, like Xcel Energy, to provide electricity to low-income customers at a minimal cost. A bipartisan bill, also seeking to boost affordability, would delay some public utilities' emissions-reduction deadlines.

Legislators have until May 13 to pass bills.

Newly elected Aurora City Councilmember Rob Andrews was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of driving under the influence, the Aurora Police Department said.

Andrews, 41, was stopped by an officer around 9:30 p.m. for allegedly splitting lanes and making wide turns. He then failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody on multiple charges.

Andrews—who chairs several committees, including public safety—was elected to one of two at-large seats last November, when the council flipped from a conservative to a progressive majority.

Following his release on a summons Sunday, Andrews posted a public apology to Facebook, writing, "I take full responsibility for my decision."

Grand Junction has advanced to the top 10 in a nationwide competition to be named America's favorite small town.

Held in honor of America's 250th birthday, the competition spotlights unique communities with populations under 250,000—towns that "define the character, charm, and community spirit of the United States."

Visit Grand Junction attributes the city's current No. 10 spot on the leaderboard to strong community engagement. Voting is open to the public daily, and voters have a chance to win a $1,500 travel voucher.

The winning town, set to be announced June 12, will be treated to special festivities during its Independence Day parade, including potential celebrity involvement, sponsor giveaways, and national media coverage.

Millions of women experience bladder leaks, urgency, or discomfort. Recent scientific research is uncovering a new piece of the puzzle: the urinary microbiome.

Recent medical studies have found that the balance of bacteria in the urinary system is closely linked to bladder symptoms and overall comfort. When helpful bacteria are out of balance, it may contribute to irritation, sensitivity, and leaks.

That's why many women are now exploring microbiome-focused support.

FemiCore is a daily supplement formulated with targeted probiotics and plant-based ingredients designed to support urinary balance and bladder comfort. It's not a medication, but it offers a science-based way to support bladder health as part of a wellness routine.
