| Former UGA Football Player Sentenced to Life Former University of Georgia wide receiver Ahkil Crumpton has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2021 murder of RaceTrac clerk Elijah Wood. Crumpton had been accused of shooting and killing Wood during a robbery attempt at a RaceTrac gas station in Watkinsville. Crumpton was convicted of all charges: two counts of felony murder, attempted armed robbery, aggravated assault, and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Last year, Crumpton was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for a separate conviction in the same case. | Georgia Tech Athletics Receives $20 Million Georgia Tech announced that two anonymous donors have collectively pledged $20 million to support its Full Steam Ahead athletics initiative and football program.
