Last week the first season of The Golden Bachelorette began, as Joan began her journey to find a second love of her life. She seems like she will be the absolute perfect lady to start this spin off of the show. A day late again, but I'm pumped to watch!
This week the dates begin! The men start to settle into the mansion, with these poor old guys having to climb up to the top of the bunk beds like they're 24.
We have a group date to go to prom for the first date in Golden Bachelorette history. They get all dressed up in tuxedos and as Joan says, takes them all back to a bunch of firsts and the innocence of how it feels to fall in love for the first time. Joan gets to know the guys more dancing and talking to them. Charles L opens up to Joan about how his wife was his only love and that today's date was the happiest he's been since she passed away. Jonathan, who opened open about that he never went to prom when he was in high school and that his heart was still healing from his past, and Joan chooses him as the prom king, giving him the first group date rose.
Chock gets the first one on one date of the Golden Bachelorette…at the happiest place in the world, Disneyland. What a fun date! Joan tells him that the key reason she asked him to go on this date is to see if he could have fun and be a kid, which they both have a blast doing. At dinner that evening they connect about losing their significant others and the similarities of losing their spouses. Joan gives Chock the rose.
For the second group date, the guys have do the Golden Talent Showcase. Joan crushed it with her poem for Gerry on the Golden Bachelor last year. The winner of the competition gets a romantic dinner with Joan. Dan is vulnerable about a tremor he has, going last and making light of it. He does a fantastic job and Joan chooses him as the winner. At dinner after, Dan's very open about his health issues and talks to Joan about his struggles. Joan of course gives him the rose.
Instead of the cocktail party, Joan and the guys have a barbecue instead for a more casual and fun day.
Rose ceremony time. Mark's the first to get a rose. With the final rose of the evening, Joan gives it to Guy. That sends Jack, who seemed to be there more so for fun, and a few other guys who barely got screen time home.
Another solid episode!
