Hannah Robinson Moves To 2-0 At The York Hall
A big weekend for women's boxing started at the York Hall on Friday night on the latest Wasserman Boxing show when Hannah Robinson continued her winning start to her professional career at London's iconic small hall venue.
The former two-time National Amateur Champion improved to 2-0 courtesy of a well-deserved six-round points victory over the tough Spanish import Laura Reoyo.
Robinson impressed in beating Reoyo 59-55 in a hard-fought crowd-pleasing fight. After a frantic opening round, the fight settled down in comparison with Robinson doing the classier eye-catching work. Robinson showed her greater class throughout, despite catching a few too many shots if you want to be super critical of her performance. But Robinson didn't seem overly concerned with what was coming back at her. The left hook, the body work and her right uppercut were what caught the eye and Robinson showed little glimpses of what is still to come.
Very big things are expected from the former Team GB fighter, and nothing we have seen so far in her two professional fights has dampened any of those expectations. Robinson weighed 140 pounds for her latest appearance and looks like a real threat in and around that division once her professional apprenticeship has been served. The lightweight ranks are the long-term target. Robinson finding her place at 135, will only add to the deep talent pool that already resides there.
Robinson has big ambitions, with dreams of winning multiple world titles. The Jamie Moore-trained prospect looks to have a very bright future indeed.
