Buccaneers Defeat Eagles in Week 4 – Post Game Notes, Video

By TSC News Staff on September 29, 2024

The Buccaneers beat the Eagles, 33-16, raising their record to 3-1. With this record, Tampa Bay is in first place in the NFC South and has led the division for 47 of the last 55 weeks since Week 4 of the 2021 season.

The Buccaneers are 6-1 in their last seven games against Philadelphia since the 2015 season, with a 4-1 record in the five games since 2021. In those five games, Tampa Bay has averaged 358.6 net yards of offense per game and has won by an average of 9.6 points, which is the highest average margin against any opponent they've faced multiple times since 2021.

Tampa Bay outgained Philadelphia, 445-227 (+218), which is the 14th-largest margin in team history and the biggest since a 257-yard advantage over Miami on Oct. 10, 2021. This is also the most net yards the Buccaneers have achieved since gaining 452 in a win against the Green Bay Packers on Dec. 17, 2023.

Tampa Bay allowed only 227 net yards of offense, the lowest since they gave up 201 to the Carolina Panthers on Jan. 8, 2024. They also allowed just 114 net passing yards, the fewest since allowing only 68 against the same team on Jan. 8, 2024.

Philadelphia's 227 yards of offense was their fewest in a contest since they recorded 213 net yards of offense, also versus Tampa Bay, on Oct. 14, 2021. Similarly, the Buccaneers yielded just 114 net passing yards to Philadelphia on Sunday, the fewest the Eagles have recorded since posting 113 net passing yards on Oct. 14, 2021, versus Tampa Bay.

The Eagles had no net yards of offense in the first quarter, the worst performance by a Buccaneers opponent since Oct. 27, 2002, when the Carolina Panthers had -10 yards.

The Buccaneers defense recorded 6.0 sacks, which is their second-highest total in a game since 2020 and their highest since Sept. 17, 2023, against Chicago.

QB Baker Mayfield completed 30 of 47 passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns without any interceptions, earning a passer rating of 100.2. He also rushed four times for 10 yards and one touchdown. In four games, he has completed 91 of 129 passes for 984 yards and eight touchdowns, with two interceptions, for a passer rating of 106.9. As of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. games, Mayfield's 106.9 rating ranks fourth in the NFL, and his eight touchdowns are second in the league.
