Last night was lousy for me in Game 5 in the West as the Stars sucked through the first two periods in their 3-1 loss at home, losing me 2.4 units, going 0-2. Tonight we have Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals in Florida as the Panthers look to advance to the Cup Finals for the second year in a row. Let's bounce back!
Game 6 - Panthers vs. Rangers (8:00)
The Panthers are a win away from their second straight Stanley Cup Finals appearance and can get there tonight with a win over the President's Trophy winner for the second year in a row. In Game 5 on Thursday night, Florida was the dominant team again. After giving up the first goal of the game, shorthanded early in the second period, they scored the next two goals and capped it off with an empty netter. The Rangers made me sweat out my under as they scored to make it 3-2 with 50 seconds left, but the Panthers controlled the puck to take the win to go up 3-2 in the series on the road heading back to Sunrise tonight. Florida's been the better team through this series, with Igor Shesterkin keeping the Rags in these games, and Game 5 wasn't any different. They outshot the Rangers 37-27 and dominated them by an expected goal rate of 4.63-2.99. I like the Panthers to keep that going and end this series at home tonight. I'll take them for 1.5 units along with half a unit on the puck line. I'm also going right back to Shesterkin's save prop, since he's the only reason New York is still alive. The Panthers have generated offensive chances in every game of this series, with 27, 27, 37, 40, and 37 shots in each game in this series. I'll take Shesterkin over 30.5 saves for a unit. I'm also jumping right back on the under in this game. I know it's an elimination game and some chaos could come at the end of the game if (when) the Rangers are done, but the under's a great trend in this series with two great goaltenders and I'll take the under for a unit (on a bad line of +110 on my local book).
