Photographing Seniors ...
To start, I've always been the friend who never misses a photo op – you know, the one who insists "the camera eats first" whenever we're out to dinner. My journey into photography began when I received my first serious camera as a gift, and it quickly became one of the most cherished presents I've ever received, second only to my children. From that moment on, photography evolved from a hobby into a passion.
Building my portfolio has been an exhilarating journey filled with fun and artistic sessions. Some photographers start with a clear vision of what they want to capture, while others, like me, discover their niche through trial and error.
It wasn't until two years into my photography journey that I realized where my true passion lies. While I still love snapping fun and spontaneous photos, I found my calling in focusing on high school seniors and college graduates. Photographing seniors is an art form that delicately balances capturing a lifetime's essence with embracing the vibrancy of the present moment. There's an undeniable magic in freezing those golden years in a single frame.
Senior photography has transcended the days of simple green screen poses; it's about capturing the very essence of each individual—their story, their personality—in every frame. The setting plays a pivotal role; sometimes, it means venturing into unconventional locations, while other times, it's as familiar as their favorite park. These familiar settings provide a sense of comfort and ease, allowing their true selves to shine through.
Photography involves numerous elements that often go unnoticed, especially when it evolves from a hobby into a business. It's a journey of discovery, where every shoot presents new challenges and opportunities for growth. Photographing High school or College seniors is a unique opportunity to celebrate a lifetime of experiences and create cherished memories that will be treasured for generations to come. By choosing the right setting, posing with purpose, mastering lighting and composition, and editing with care, you can capture the timeless beauty and wisdom of your senior subjects.
