I got crushed on last night's NHL slate for the third day in a row, going 1-4 to lose 2.79 units. Tonight we have another big eight game slate, let's see if we can bounce back! https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5Rh6Q4PUWd/?utm_source=ig_web_co…

Sabres vs. Capitals (7:00)
I'll be in attendance for the first time this season for Jeff Skinner's 1,000th career NHL game as the Capitals come to Buffalo. The Sabres season is over, we're not making the playoffs, and coming into tonight's game off a 3-0 shutout loss at home against the Leafs on Saturday in a game that we didn't play bad in, actually outplaying Toronto by an expected goal rate of 4.13-1.74, and outshooting them 34-22. The Caps are currently holding the second Wild Card spot in the East, tied in points with the Red Wings, and a point back from the Flyers for third in the Metro, so they're looking in pretty good shape to make the playoffs, getting hot at the right time. They're coming into tonight off two losses in a row after a 3-2 shootout loss to the Bruins on Saturday at home, but they have good form coming into tonight's game with a 6-2-1 record in their last nine games. The first game between these teams in DC back in November needed overtime, with the Caps winning 4-3 at home. I'd lean they win again in Buffalo tonight and I'd lean the over, but I'm playing this game on props. Jeff Skinner's the kind of guy that loves being in the spotlight, and I love him to get a point tonight in his 1,000th game. I'll take that at a way better price than I expected it to be for a unit and his anytime goal for half a unit. Let's hear Breaking Free from High School Musical at KeyBank Center and cash those both at once. I also like Ovechkin to stay hot and score, so I'll take Ovi anytime goal for half a unit. Let's Go Buffalo!
Canadiens vs. Panthers (7:00)
Lousy matchup in the Atlantic here. The Habs are the worst team in the division, playing awful on both ends of the ice this season. They're coming off a 3-0 shutout loss to the Hurricanes (easy cash for me) on Saturday that ended their three game win streak. The Panthers are in the second half of a back to back tonight, coming off a 6-4 loss in Toronto last night. They're two points back from the Bruins to lead the Atlantic, but have been in a slump lately with just two wins in their last nine games, despite being what I think is the most talented team in the East. Florida's 3-0 against the Canadiens this season, winning 5-1 on the road in November, 4-1 at home in December, and then 4-3 in a shootout at home at the end of February. This feels like a great "get right" spot for the Panthers and I like them to complete the season sweep of the Habs on the road. I'll take Florida in regulation for half a unit. I'd lean the under, but not enough to bet it.
Devils vs. Penguins (7:00)
Lousy matchup in the Metro Division between two teams that are likely to miss the playoffs. The Devils have been pretty lousy this season, and they're going to end up missing the playoffs. They're coming off a 5-2 loss to the Sabres last Thursday, but have played pretty well with four wins in their last six games. The Penguins are only a point better and have sucked too, but come into tonight's game on a five game point streak, with three wins in their last four games, on the second half of a back to back tonight coming off a 5-2 win in MSG against the Rangers last night. Jersey won the first two games between these teams this season, winning both games 5-2, on the road in November, and on the road in March. I'd lean, especially with the Pens in the second half of a back to back that the Devils win this one, but not enough to bet it. I do like the over though, which I'll take at the alternate 6 line for half a unit.
Islanders vs. Blackhawks (7:30)
Horrible cross conference matchup here. The Islanders, who are in the second half of a back to back tonight after a 4-3 overtime win in Philly last night. They've now picked up three wins in their last five games after going on a six game losing streak, but they're still three points back from a Wild Card spot as they're trying to chase down the Capitals, Red Wings, and Flyers. The Blackhawks are one of the worst teams in the NHL, but hav three wins in their last four games, coming off a shocking 5-1 win in Philly on Saturday. Chicago won the first game between these teams 4-3 in overtime at home back in January. I like the Isles to answer back with a win here at home even in the second half of a back to back, and I'll take them for half a unit. I'd slightly lean the under, but no shot I'm betting it.
Predators vs. Bruins (8:00)
Easily the best game on tonight's slate. The Predators were one of the hottest teams in the NHL, but after their 18 game point streak came to an end in Arizona with an 8-4 loss to the Yotes on Thursday, they followed it up with a 7-4 loss in Colorado on Saturday. The Bruins hold a two point lead over the Panthers for first in the Atlantic, coming off a big 3-2 shootout win in DC on Saturday. The B's won the first game between these teams 3-2 at home in October. I'd very slightly lean the Preds win this one at home, but this is pretty close to a coin flip . I'd also lean the under, but the best play on this game is none at all, which I'll stay off completely.
Wild vs. Senators (8:00)
What a boring cross conference game this one is. The Wild are well outside of the playoffs with just one win in their last four games, but have been playing decent with a 7-1-4 record in their last twelve games. The Senators have been one of the worst teams in the East, but coming off a 3-2 win in Winnipeg on Saturday, they're on a five game win streak with eight wins in their last eleven games. The first game between these teams needed a shootout to determine a winner with the Sens winning 2-1 at home back in November. I'd lean the Wild and the over, but I don't really see any value in it and I'll just stay off this game.
Flames vs. Ducks (9:00)
Quite the boring, lousy game in the Pacific. The Flames have had a lousy season, and come into tonight's game off a 4-2 win against the Kings on Saturday that ended their five game losing streak. The Ducks are one of the worst teams in the NHL, coming into tonight's game on a five game losing streak with just one win in their last 13 games (against the Blackhawks). Calgary won the first game between on the road with a 3-0 shutout in December. I like them to win again, and I'll take the Flames in regulation for half a unit. I like the under too, but I'll lay off it.
Golden Knights vs. Canucks (10:00)
Really interesting Pacific Division matchup between these two playoff teams to close out tonight's slate. The Golden Knights moved past the Kings, holding third place in the Pacific by three points. They're playing really well lately, on a six game point streak, with an 8-2-1 record in their last eleven games. The Canucks haven't been fantastic lately, but still lead the Pacific and have an 8-3-1 record in their last twelve games. These teams split their last two games, each winning on the road, a 4-1 Knights win in Vancouver in November and a 3-1 Canucks win in Vegas in March. I'd lean Vegas gets another win here at home, but there's no value to betting this game. I'll stay off it, but should be a really solid one to watch.
