Football could have a louder voice in the next cycle of the Nigeria national assembly as some football administrators have made it into both the red and green chambers.
As at Tuesday, as the results of the Nigerian general elections trickled in, no fewer than three football administrators won seats in the law-making chambers.
The general manager of Remo Stars of Ikenne, Ekene Abubakar Adams who ran on the platform of Labour Party beat all other contestants to win a seat to the House of Representatives from the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State.
Also to represent the football family in the House of Representatives is Aminu Balele Kurfi, the Chairman of the Katsina State Football Association who is also Chairman of the NFF Committee on Youth Competitions.
He was elected to the House of Representatives from the Dutsin-ma/Kurfi Federal Constituency of Katsina State on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Also elected into Nigeria's law-making chamber is the Proprietor of FC IfeanyiUbah.
He returns to the Senate after winning on the ticket of Young Peoples' Party, YPP to represent the Anambra South Senatorial District.
According to a press release by Ademola Olajire, the Communication Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, the president of the football governing body has congratulated the trio.
"We are happy at the triumphs of these members of the Nigeria Football family. We heartily congratulate them and wish them the very best as they become Federal legislators, with the opportunities to initiate legislation that will favour football and other sectors of Nigerian life.
"We will continue to pray for them so that God will give them the wisdom, knowledge and understanding to work assiduously for the development and real growth of Nigeria Football while in the 10th session of the National Assembly."
