The Cycling Federation of Nigeria has opened camp in preparations for the Track

As the Cycling Federation of Nigeria, CFN  begins preparation for the Track Nations Cup which holds in Glasgow from April 21-24.

The camp will aid in the selection of six elite female cyclists that will feature at the Glasgow event.

According to the CFN President,  Giadomenico Massari, the camp which will hold at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja will last till April 18 "when the cyclists are expected to depart for the UK for the Nations Cup in Glasgow".

The elite female cyclists listed for the Nations Cup, according to the CFN secretary general, Shammah Makpa are Ese Ukeseraye, Tawakalt Yekeen, Mary Samuel, Grace Ayuba, Treasure Coxson and Tombrapa Grikpa.

Meanwhile an Italian coach, Vincenzo Ceci is being seconded to the CFN by a friend of the Federation, Andrea Tonti to assist in preparing the cyclists for the competition, Massari said, adding that two local coaches, including the technical director of the CFN, Bashir Mohammed will understudy the Italian.

"Our friend, Andrea Tonti will (bear) the cost of his professional fee while we will take care of his logistic and traveling expense", he said, adding that "the Nations Cup Series are the major qualifiers for the next 2022 World Championship and the 2024 Olympic Games".
