NEW ORLEANS, LA – The Dallas Cowboys (7-4) traveled to the Caesars Superdome on December 2 and faced off against the New Orleans Saints (5-6) on Thursday Night Football. The Cowboys came into the matchup off two straight losses and went up against a team without their top playmaker Alvin Kamara (knee injury). The Cowboys got back both their top wideouts in Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb for their matchup against the Saints after both missed last week's matchup against the Raiders.
The Dallas defense had a terrific fourth quarter behind three consecutive interceptions, the third a pick-six by Carlos Watkins off quarterback Taysom Hill to defeat the Saints 27-17 on Thursday.
Taysom Hill Keeps the Saints in The Game
The Saints trailed by a touchdown at the half. The Saints rushed for a total of 32 yards in the first half. If it were not for a missed field goal by Brett Maher, the Saints would be down just three.
Dak Prescott connected with eight different receivers in the first half, including a 1-yard connection with Michael Gallup late in the first quarter for the game's first touchdown.
The Dallas defense forced an interception when Jayron Kearse picked off Taysom Hill in the first half. Micah Parsons had made his presence known with several major stops, most notably the help defense on the Jayron Kearse interception.
Dallas Defense Force Three INT'S in Stellar Fourth Quarter
On the first offensive series of the second half, Tayson Hill displayed his remarkable speed by breaking away for a sensational 24-yard run. It was the first of two 20+ yard runs on the day for Hill.
The drive resulted in a Brett Maher field goal, which cut the Dallas lead to three.
The Cowboys' rushing game had been quiet until the third quarter when Tony Pollard broke free for a 58-yard touchdown run, the longest run of the year for the Cowboys to extend the Dallas lead to ten points.
Micah Parsons picked up his tenth sack of the year to begin the fourth quarter, sacking Tayson Hill to extend the sack lead he holds among rookies.
Hill went on to throw three interceptions on three consecutive drives. The third interception, a fourt-quarter pick by Carlos Watkins, was run back 29 yards for another Dallas touchdown, all but sealing the game.
The Saints scored a touchdown on the ensuing drive on a 70-yard strike from Taysom Hill to Deonte Harris, but their comeback aspirations as the three fourth-quarter interceptions were too much to overcome.
