WINSTON SALEM, NC- The No. 21 NC State Wolf Pack (7-2) traveled to Truist Field to take on the No. 13 Wake Forest Demon Deacons (8-1) on Saturday, November 13.

Quarterback Sam Hartman and Wake Forest get a huge 45-42 win over NC State behind a great rushing attack led by Justice Ellison. Ellison scored three touchdowns; two touchdowns rushing and one receiving.

High Scoring Game

Both Devin Leary and Sam Hartman fired away as the opposing defenses were searching for answers as to how to stop the other's offensive attack.

Devin Leary tallied 408 passing yards along with four touchdown passes and two interceptions for the Wolf Pack. Meanwhile, Sam Hartman tallied 290 passing yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions for the Demon Deacons.

Both quarterbacks had struggles protecting the ball but both teams fought back and forth, making it a high-scoring game. The teams combined for a little under 900 yards of total offense.

Both offenses and defenses were active all day long; the defenses made up for the lack of stops with turnovers, combing for six total; five interceptions and one fumble recovery.

Wolf Pack Kickoff Return, Emezie and Carter Show Out

The Wolf Pack started off the second half with 100-yard kickoff-return TD by Zonovan Knight. That gave the Wolf Pack their first lead of the night at 27-24. However, that would be Wolf Pack's first and last lead of the night.

Devin Leary was able to establish a huge connection with Emeka Emezie and Devin Carter throughout the game. Emezie ended with 10 receptions for 133 yards and two touchdowns, while Devin Carter finished the game with seven receptions, 132 yards and two touchdowns. They both were able to catch two of the four touchdowns Leary threw on the day.

Wake Forest Running Game Gets the Edge

The Demon Deacons' running game set the tone, tallying 116 rushing yards compared to 74 rushing yards for the Wolf Pack.

Wake Forest's balanced passing and running game was the difference in the game as they finished with three passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns. Justice Ellison led the way in the running game with 17 carries for 56 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Sam Hartman scored on the ground as well on a five-yard rushing touchdown.

Wake Forest led 31-27 entering the fourth quarter. Ellison caught a four-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter which gave Wake Forest an 11-point lead. The Wolf Pack was able to score two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but they were not able to overcome a slightly stronger offensive attack from Wake Forest as Sam Hartman led Wake Forest to victory.
