The first trailer for "Peacemaker" has arrived as John Cena reprises his role from "The Suicide Squad" with the series set to debut on January 13…

Peacemaker will achieve peace at any cost — no matter how many lives he must take to get there.

That pretty much sums up the new "Peacemaker" series from James Gunn as the prolific writer and director brings John Cena back to the small screen to reprise the role he first place in 2021's "The Suicide Squad."

This time around, Cena will be playing Peacemaker with a chance to make a real difference in the world while teaming up with some of the same people who previously worked under Amanda Waller when she sent her team of villains on a suicide mission where no one was expected to survive.

It turns out, Peacemaker made it out alive and now he's tasked with redeeming himself by taking out even more bad guys while also attempting to get his own life back in order. Here's the official synopsis from HBO Max:

"PEACEMAKER will explore the origins of the character that John Cena first portrayed in James Gunn's 2021 film, "The Suicide Squad" – a compellingly vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it.

The series stars John Cena as Peacemaker, Danielle Brooks as Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Harcourt, Steve Agee as Economos, Chukwudi Iwuji as Murn and Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith."

Gunn wrote all eight episodes of the upcoming "Peacemaker" series with the first one dropping on January 13 on HBO Max with a brand new episode following week-to-week.

For now, take a look at the new "Peacemaker" trailer and get ready for the series debut in January!
