Jon Jones is not a "piece of shit bad guy," he's just a drunk who needs help.

That's according to UFC bantamweight attraction Sean O'Malley, no stranger to drunk fighters who play the fool. Perhaps that's why "Sugar" can empathize with "Bones" after the former light heavyweight champion found himself in handcuffs.

"Speaking of looking good and steps ahead and just dominant, Jon Jones is 1-0 this year," O'Malley said on his official podcast. "That's fucked up, it sucks. I don't feel like I'm in a position to even judge. I don't know what's going on in his mind or I don't know what's going on in his life. Like obviously he shouldn't have done that. Obviously that's fucked up, obviously he knows that."

O'Malley was still in high school when Jones had his first alcohol-related arrest.

Jones was arrested and charged with domestic battery late last month in Las Vegas, Nevada, a chaotic night of drinking that allegedly left his fiancé bloody and a police car damaged, though you wouldn't know it from this post-Vegas video.

"Dude when you're drunk, it's not your true self," O'Malley continued. "You're fucking drunk dude, like dude, who knows what he's dealing with? Not okay, 100 percent. Should definitely get punished for it. I don't know if he's necessarily a piece of shit bad guy. I feel bad for him. If you get to that point, you need help. You can't beat on your boo."

Jones is expected in court on Oct. 26.
