AEW Dynamite came to us live from Rochester, NY on Wednesday night. The episode took place in the hometown of the late Brodie Lee. AEW dedicated this week's episode of Dynamite to Brodie's memory. Let's take a look at a great night of action.
Adam Cole vs. Jungle Boy
The show kicked off with a fantastic matchup between Jungle Boy and Adam Cole. Cole and Jungle Boy have had their issues with each other from the first day Cole stepped foot into AEW. As a result, the two men finally faced off against one another one on one. The fans witnessed a great match between two of the best professional wrestlers on the planet.
Jungle Boy gained the advantage over Cole early on in the match. Cole left the ring to regroup and halt the momentum of Jungle Boy. Once back in the ring, Cole took the momentum. Adam Cole was able to wear on Jungle Boy for some time. Jungle Boy fired back into the match and landed a big Hurricanrana. Moments later, Cole timed a beautiful superkick. He followed up with a Panama Sunrise for a near fall.
Cole attempted to finish the match with the Boom, but Jungle Boy was able to move out of the way. Jungle Boy locked in the Snare Trap in the center of the ring. Somehow, Cole was able to escape the hold. During a scramble, Cole distracted the referee. As a result, Cole took advantage and landed a low blow. He followed up with the Boom for the win.
The Elite Addressed AEW
After Cole's win, the rest of the Elite joined him in the ring to celebrate. Different members of the group took turns explaining why they are the best in the world. Kenny Omega grabbed the microphone and addressed his match from last week. Omega stated that while Bryan did everything in his power, he was still unable to defeat him.
Bryan Danielson interrupted Kenny Omega. Danielson told Omega that even though he wanted a rematch and the fans wanted to see a rematch, Omega just does not have the guts to give him one. Bryan then challenged any member of the Elite to a match. Instead, Omega suggested that Danielson fight them right now. As a result, Danielson obliged, but he did not come alone. Danielson alongside Frankie Kazarian, Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, and Marko Stunt sent the Elite running from the ring.
Cody Rhodes & Lee Johnson vs. Dante Martin & Matt Sydal
Cody Rhodes teamed with one of his Nightmare Factory proteges to take on fan favorites Dante Martin and Matt Sydal. Rhodes has had an interesting relationship with the fans as of late, and that trend continued on Wednesday. Martin and Sydal had their moments throughout the match and delivered some amazing high-flying offense. However, in the end, it was Johnson and Rhodes that picked up the win.
After the match, Cody got on the mic and once again called out Malakai Black. Arn Anderson immediately stopped him and told him to stop talking. Anderson then went on to tell a story that implied that he believes that Rhodes is soft. Anderson then left the ring with Lee Johnson. As a result, Rhodes stood in the ring looking shocked.
John Moxley, Eddie Kingston, and Darby Allin vs. Bear Country and Anthony Greene
This match was a quick and fun beatdown for the fans. Bear Country and Anthony Greene started off hot and went after the fan favorites. However, this did not last long as Mox and company regained momentum and quickly put their opponents away. After the match, Sting hit Greene with the Scorpion Death Drop. Moxley, Kingston, and Darby then paid tribute to Brodie Lee.
The Dark Order and Orange Cassidy vs. Hardy Family Office
Next up was a huge sixteen-man tag team match. The son of Brodie Lee, Negative One, accompanied the Dark Order to the ring. During the match, the issues that have been plaguing the Dark Order as of late rose up once again. The infighting began during the match and members of the team attempted to leave.
Manda Huber, Negative One, Tay Conti, and Anna Jay stopped them at the top of the ramp. They convinced the Dark Order to refocus and stop the fighting. As a result, the Dark Order exploded into the match. After a combination of moves, the Dark Order prevailed with the win. After the match, Negative One celebrated with the Dark Order.
Tay Conti & Anna Jay vs. Penelope Ford & The Bunny
Up next was some more of the Dark Order as Tay Conti and Anna Jay took on Penelope Ford and The Bunny. The four women have had many issues with each other over the past few weeks. As a result, it was time for them to settle it once and for all. Ford and the Bunny dominated much of the match. Eventually, Dark Order found an opening and fired back. Conti landed a huge springboard crossbody to her opponents. Jay locked in her Queen Slayer sleeper and put Ford to sleep for the win.
MJF Addresses AEW
MJF made his way to the ring and stated that AEW needs him. He described himself as the most important pillar in the company. MJF went on the name all of his accomplishments in his young career thus far. He also stated that if AEW does not give him what he wants, he could leave the company.
Darby Allin arrived and ended MJF. Allin told MJF that if he wants to leave, he should as nobody would care. He also stated that he lives for AEW. MJF then took this opportunity to get very personal. He told a story about Allin's uncle that was extremely low. Allin told MJF that he would not hit him as MJF could not break him mentally. MJF took offense to that statement. As a result, MJF and Wardlow headed out of the arena.
TNT Championship Match
Sammy Guevara vs. Miro (C)
Finally, it was time for the main event of the evening. Sammy Guevara challenged Miro for the TNT Championship. A few weeks ago, Sammy rescued his friend Fuego Del Sol from a beating at the hands of Miro. As a result, the two faced off for the TNT title. Miro went after the challenger immediately in the match. He used his size and strength advantage to take the fight to Guevara.
Sammy battled back and landed a huge dive on the outside. He was able to get Miro back into the ring and delivered a cutter. Miro fired back and landed a huge kick to halt Sammy's momentum. Miro then ripped the padding from the four top turnbuckles. Fuego Del Sol made his way to ringside to stop Miro, but Miro quickly dropped him.
Sammy was able to make it back to his feet and he sent Miro into the exposed turnbuckle. Guevara then hoisted the Champion up and landed the GTH. He then followed up by climbing to the top rope and landed a 630 for the pinfall victory. With the win, Sammy Guevara became the new TNT Champion. The show ended with Sammy celebrating his title win.
Final Thoughts
AEW knocked it out of the park with another great edition of Dynamite. The show kicked off with a great match between two of the best in the world and it ended with a title win for one of the company's young stars. Seemingly, AEW is running on all cylinders. Their shows have become can't miss for wrestling fans.
As always, AEW continues to bring it with more matches advertised for future shows. After the show, Sammy Guevara issued a challenge to Bobby Fish for his newly won TNT title next week. Moments later, AEW made the match official. Next week should be another great show. As always, keep it right here for everything AEW and Professional Wrestling.
