The Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees played a divisional clash on Wednesday, September 29th, 2021.

The Blue Jays started the scoring with a first-inning home run for Marcus Semien. His 44th homer of the season put the Blue Jays up 2-0.

The lead was extended to 3-0 in the second inning thanks to an RBI single by George Springer.  In the fourth inning, Bo Bichette hit his 27th home run of the year, a solo shot to give the Blue Jays a 4-0 lead.

The Yankees would cut into the lead in the top of the fifth. Gio Urshela hit an RBI single. He then came around to score on a Brett Gardner double to cut the lead in half at 4-2.

Vladimir Guerrero got a run back for the Blue Jays with an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth to make it 5-2.

In the sixth Aaron Judge hit a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 5-3. Then in the top of the seventh Kyle Higashioka singled in two runs to tie the game.

In the eighth inning, Bichette hit his second home run of the game and 28th of the season to return the lead to Toronto at 6-5.

The Yankees did get the tying run into scoring position in the ninth but were unable to drive the run-in. Toronto won the game 6-5 to snap New York's seven-game winning streak.

Adam Cimber was the winning pitcher; Clay Holmes was the losing pitcher and Jordan Romano earned the save. The Next game for these two teams is September 30th, 2021 at 7:07 pm. Corey Kluber and Robbie Ray will be the standing pitchers. New York still holds a one-game lead in the American League Wild Card race over rival Boston. Toronto is one game behind Boston in the Wild Card standings.
