Central African Republic (CAR) will host Cape Verde this Tuesday 1 September as the opening glee of the group stage of the World Cup qualifiers in Africa.

The match will be holding in Cameroon and not in CAR as both teams meet at the Stade de la Reunification in Douala. It will be the first of projected 60 matches leading to the straight knock-out final stage.

On Tuesday, there are five other matches after the CAR versus Cape Verde clash.  These are Guinea-Bissau versus Guinea in Nouakchott, Mauritania; Senegal versus Togo; Libya versus Gabon; Mali versus Rwanda and Egypt versus Angola.

The CAR versus Cape Verde encounter offers Nigeria's match day 2 opponents a week of rest and preparations as Nigeria will have to face Cape Verde four days after hosting Liberia.
