Bayern recovering from an inauspicious start to the Bundesliga season with a deserved win over bitter rivals BVB. Bayern drawing away at Gladbach on the opening day whilst Dortmund off to a flyer with an emphatic win against Eintract. Dortmund lined up with a familiar front three minus Sancho of course who moved to England with Moukoko filling the spot. Bayern have held on to their top stars but having a new manager in Julian Nagelsmann means most players have a lot to prove. It is difficult to say which team started the brightest here, both had chances with both Neuer and Kobel pulling out saves in the first half hour. One player who had a lot to prove after an average season last term was Leroy Sane. Sane came in from the bench to deliver the cross for the opening goal, with his weaker right foot to boot, pretty impressive. The second goal for Bayern was suicidal defending at its worst. Come on freeze that clip, only two defenders against four Bayern attackers, where the hell were they?

The best goal of the night was no doubt Marco Reus's, teed up by England's Jude Bellingham. With Sancho gone it is the likes of Jude and Giovanni Reyna who have to fill the void for BVB, Jude showing he can also be assist master at Dortmund if given the playmaker role. Dortmund's center back pairing of Akanji(Swiss international) and Witsel of Belgium was an experimental one at best, Witsel is more of a defensive midfielder and was probably in because Hummels is injured. It just didn't work out. Just watch the gift Akanji gave to Toliso, unacceptable. New signing from PSV Malen came in to try to shake up things in attack for Dortmund but 3-1 was too high a mountain to scale. Haaland never got to have a decent effort at goal, he was well marshalled by Frenchman UpamecanoThe Super Cup features the Bundesliga winners and the German Cup holders at the beginning of the season. This one was strangely held after the League season started, with the risk of injuries to players hanging over both coaches.
