President Trump visited the Cincinnati area on Wednesday and toured the Thermo Fisher Scientific pharmaceutical and biotechnology manufacturing plant in Reading.

The president discussed TrumpRx.gov, the government’s new prescription drug website, saying the U.S. had been “paying more than any other nation, by far” for medications and that prices in the U.S. “went from the highest in the world to the lowest in the world.”

He also addressed the U.S. military conflict with Iran, calling it an “excursion” that he said would keep the U.S. out of a full-blown war.

After leaving Cincinnati, Trump visited the Verst Logistics Contract Packaging Facility in Hebron, Kentucky. The area is represented by Republican Rep. Thomas Massie, who is facing a primary challenge from Trump-endorsed Ed Gallrein.

Gov. Mike DeWine delivered his final State of the State Address on Tuesday, focusing largely on childhood education and public safety.

DeWine touted children’s reading initiatives as a top goal for the rest of the year and introduced a statewide school attendance dashboard after one in four Ohio students were chronically absent in 2025.

The governor also called for laws addressing artificial intelligence and child safety, along with a primary seat-belt law that would allow law enforcement to stop vehicles when passengers aren’t buckled up.

Republican state lawmakers said some of DeWine’s proposals wouldn’t be considered until the next budget cycle, which begins after he leaves office.

Ohio treasure hunter Thomas “Tommy” Thompson, 73, has been released from federal prison after being incarcerated since 2015 for refusing to disclose the location of missing gold coins and bars recovered from a 19th-century shipwreck.

In the 1980s, Thompson persuaded about 160 investors—many from Ohio—to back his search for the S.S. Central America, which sank off the coast of South Carolina during a hurricane in 1857.

Thompson recovered the gold in 1988. It was estimated to be worth $100 million, and he later sold a portion of the treasure for $50 million.

Thompson was accused of swindling investors out of millions of dollars worth of gold and faced lawsuits over missing payments before spending years as a fugitive.
