More than 400 people were treated, and at least 25 were taken to the hospital, for heat-related illnesses during the Luke Days air show Saturday at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale.

The biennial air show—one of the largest in the country—features performers such as the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and often draws crowds exceeding 100,000.

Officials say most of those impacted were children under 12, adults over 60, or individuals with pre-existing health conditions.

The city of Phoenix issued safety tips as the spring heat wave that began last week pushed temperatures up to 25 degrees above normal.

An internal review by the Phoenix Police Department found that three officers involved in designating a group of George Floyd protesters a criminal street gang violated department policy.

However, the officers have since retired and can't be disciplined, the department said. The officers allegedly provided false information or took actions that jeopardized an investigation, the department said.

No criminal charges were ever brought against any Phoenix officers, who used the gang designation to pursue felony charges against more than a dozen protesters in 2020. A lawsuit led to Maricopa County agreeing to a $6 million settlement with the protesters.
