A federal judge on Thursday vacated the convictions of Glen Casada and aide Cade Cothren, indicted in 2022 in a scheme involving more than $51,000 in state mail payments and alleged bribes.

President Trump initially pardoned Casada and Cothren in mid-November 2025, and with the judge vacating the guilty verdicts, the convictions were effectively nullified as if the trial never occurred. Cothren had been sentenced to two years in federal prison, while Casada received a shorter sentence.

It has been confirmed that in January Cothren picked up qualifying papers to explore a Tennessee House run in District 71, though he has not officially qualified and must meet signature and filing requirements by March.
