Nashville Sues Over HUD Funding Cuts

Metro Nashville is suing the Trump administration, alleging recent U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development changes could force nearly 1,000 people into homelessness this winter.

The city says the rule shift slashes housing stability funds by over 60%, jeopardizing support for domestic violence survivors and families with children.

The lawsuit argues the cuts were made without public input and violate federal law.

A federal court hearing is expected by week's end to decide whether to pause the new rules.

Suspect Injured After Jumping Off Bridge

A wanted man in Nashville is recovering with serious injuries after diving off a bridge into Browns Creek while fleeing police on Saturday.

Metro officers say 31-year-old Darryn Carter ignored commands and jumped into shallow water, suffering leg and facial fractures and a collapsed lung.

Carter, who had multiple warrants, was later found with drugs, a Glock pistol, and ammunition in his vehicle.

He faces several new charges once released from the hospital, including felon in possession of a firearm and drug trafficking.

Clinton 12 Trailblazer Jo Ann Allen Boyce Dies

Jo Ann Allen Boyce, one of the historic Clinton 12 who integrated Clinton High School in 1956, has died at age 84.

As a teenager, she faced threats and mobs to help break the color barrier in East Tennessee following a federal desegregation order.

The Green McAdoo Cultural Center announced her passing, honoring her as a generous, humble force for change.

Boyce was the grandmother of beloved Disney actor Cameron Boyce, who died at the age of 20 in 2019 due to complications from epilepsy.
