In the days after the Bondi Beach attack, tens of thousands of Sydney residents found a simple way to help: rolling up their sleeves.

At donation centers across the city, waits stretched up to seven hours as people queued to give blood, with Australian Red Cross Lifeblood reporting nearly 50,000 donation bookings nationwide in response.

Many donors told reporters the wait didn’t matter, saying it was “all we can do” in the face of tragedy, according to reports.

Lifeblood officials urged Australians to keep donating in the coming weeks, noting that blood supplies are needed long after headlines fade. Watch a news report here.

Article Icon 1Grandma Stands Offer Heartfelt Help

The Grandma Stand started in 2012 with a simple, slightly strange idea: if you’re hurting, maybe you should talk to a grandma.

New Yorker Mike Matthews first connected strangers with his grandmother, Eileen, through FaceTime, setting up a laptop at a lemonade stand so she could talk with passersby from her living room in Washington state, lifting the spirits of thousands of people until her death in 2018 at age 102.

After a pause, Matthews revived the project to honor her legacy, painting the stand purple—her favorite color—and inviting other grandmothers to step in. Watch a news report here.

Today, rotating groups of volunteer grandmas pop up in cities around the country, offering free, nonjudgmental conversation to anyone who sits down. Each stand posts a prompt to break the ice, with questions like, “What do you wish you had a second chance at?” or “What’s something you haven’t told anyone yet?” See photos here.

The goal isn’t therapy—it’s human connection, one grandma at a time. Find a grandma near you or get involved

A loyal German shepherd from rural Manitoba, Canada, has gone viral for walking two young siblings to their school bus every morning—and waiting until it pulls away.

Ozzy, age 9, escorts Oakes and Winnie to the end of their driveway, rain or shine, and hasn’t missed a morning in two years. See Ozzy here.

A video of his daily send-off has drawn nearly 3 million views and earned him the nickname “Bus Stop Ozzy.” His owners say he’s just doing what comes naturally by looking out for his kids. Watch it here.

The 15-Second Ritual That Could Save Your Thinning Hair

Something I learned during my 25 years studying women's hair loss changed everything I thought I knew about why hair gets thinner.

I was reviewing the latest research on scalp health when I noticed my office plant looking wilted. I poured water on its waxy leaves, watching it bead up and roll off instead of absorbing.

That's when it hit me.

The breakthrough studies I'd been reading showed the same suffocating pattern was happening around hair follicles in women experiencing thinning.

Your follicles aren't dying from age or hormones like everyone thinks.

They're literally being suffocated.

And those expensive shampoos promising thicker hair? They might actually be making this suffocation worse.

See, your scalp is skin is delicate skin housing over 100,000 follicles that need expert care. Yet, we often wash it with ingredients that create waxy buildup, slowly choking your follicles. It's no wonder that so many treatments don't work.
