This post is going to be a little different. I'm planning to do a monthly round-up at the end of each month moving forward. Sharing short, useful, things I learned throughout the month.
1/ Essays
This month I wrote about:
2/ Unconventional Networking
I broke out my chessboard for the first time since COVID.
This little portable chess set is magnetic and portable. I have a couple coworkers I play with. We'll drop the board off at the other person's desk after a move. Games can take up to a month, but it has led to some friendly competition and good-clean banter.
I love little things like this that can bring you closer to someone without having to go to a bar stool.
You learn a lot about someone from playing games with them.
3/ Song of the summer, vacation, etc.
This has been the song of the summer in our house: Train Song.
If you have kids, maybe they'll love it. Hell, my older brother loves it.
(Send me an email if you want my playlist of kids songs that don't stink)
Below are two photos from our annual trip to Lake George, NY. We're trying not to have any photos of our son's face online, so here we are playing wiffle ball with his back turned & vrooming his in the water.
4/ Owning a Home
Long-time readers of this blog know I am a fan of frugality. One of the hidden benefits of owning a home is hosting! I find you can host a wonderful get-together with friends & family that is more affordable than going out to a restaurant, and more personable because you are letting people into your home.
Below is a picture of a spread we had for a small get-together this month, and a picture of my father & I working on framing my basement (I not pictured).
